Course Rotation: Typically, we conduct 2 EMT classes each year, with one running from January-June and one from July-November. These are general timelines, and each course may vary based on operational considerations.

Program Goal
The goal of the Northwest Community Health Education Program is to prepare competent entry-level emergency medical personnel in the cognitive, psychomotor, and affective learning domains with the ability to serve their community and pursue careers in healthcare fields.
Cognitive Objective: Upon successful completion of this program, the student will demonstrate a working knowledge of clinical information and related topics relevant to the practice of pre-hospital emergency medical care.
Psychomotor Objective: Upon successful completion of the program, the student will demonstrate an ability to competently and proficiently perform all respective ECA/EMR and EMT level skills.
Affective Objective: Upon successful completion of this program, the student will demonstrate attitudes and behaviors consistent with the ethics and professionalism expected of emergency medical personnel.
The program goal and objectives were approved by the Advisory Committee on June 8, 2018.
EMT Course Admission Requirements
Be at least 17 years old
Completed Program Application
Completed Program Medical History Form
Physical Exam (within 1 year from the last day of class)
Course Tuition payment
Background check (Conducted by Northwest EMS Education)
Drug Test (Conducted by Northwest EMS Education)
Highschool Diploma or GED (exempt for highschool program admission)

Admission/Orientation
All persons interested in enrolling in the program will attend an Admissions/Orientation night. The program currently has a maximum enrollment of 20 students. In the event of more candidates than slots, candidates will be placed on a waitlist.

Total Hours in addition to classroom time: 56 hours
Hospital Clinicals: 2-10 hour shifts.
Ambulance Field Internship: Total of 72 hours. It can be completed by doing 12 or 24-hour shifts.
Documented patient assessment minimum: 10
Completion and Eligibility for Certification Testing
Successful completion of each module exam with a 70% or higher.
Successful completion of the course with a final grade of 70% or higher.
Successful completion of the final cognitive exam with a grade of 70% or higher
Successful completion of the TDSHS Jurisprudence Exam.
Demonstration of the appropriate affective domain for an entry-level provider
Approval of the Program Director, Texas DSHS Course Coordinator, Lead Instructor, & Medical Director

Refund Policy
The following applies to any student who withdraws from the class for any reason. Refunds are calculated based on the student’s last date of attendance. Only payments received that are eligible for refund will be refunded.
Cancellations: The student may cancel their registration and will be refunded 100% of all tuition paid if cancellation occurs before the first day of class
First day of class through the first 15 calendar days: 50%
During the 16th through 20th calendar days: 25%
After the 20th calendar day: No Refund
If the student is dismissed or terminated from the course for failure to meet Satisfactory Academic Progress standards, or for gross misconduct: No refund
The refund policy only applies to payments made above the non-refundable amount. The Course Deposit is non-refundable.
